Case Study

Challenge
With the recent merge of two State Government Departments, the rate and scale of changes experienced across the resulting Department had significantly increased. Effective and consistent change management was especially critical.
It was recognised that in order for the Department to effectively navigate current change and future change a change management approach that consolidated the methodology, tools and resources existing within each of the previous Departments and build a seamless and fit for purpose change management approach.
Our Approach
A consultative approach that consisted of:
- A thorough desktop review
- Several key stakeholder interviews
- Recommendations report with detail of a preliminary change road map
- Validation workshop to test and validate the change roadmap steps and facilitated thinking and decision making to clarify ownership and accountabilities across each step.
- Based on a review, a selection of existing change tools and resources were recommended for continued use and mapped across the change
Outcome
- Clarity of changes tools and resources
- The ‘what’ of each change step
- The ‘who’ of each change step
Curve partnered with DEPI to begin to build a highly bespoke change road map A key step to achieving this outcome will be engaging the various providers of change support from across the Department (and in particular from the People & Culture and Communications teams) to ensure that the resulting “Change Roadmap”, reflects best practice and enables groups requiring change support to access relevant services in a coordinated and integrated way.
The key objective of Curve Group’s engaged with DEPI was to design an end-to-end change roadmap to support the Department through current and future change in a coordinated and integrated way.
In order to support the Department to effectively navigate current and future change, you are now looking to consolidate the change management approaches, tools and resources that exist under the separate DSE and DPI banners into a refined and seamless DEPI way for managing change. A key step to achieving this outcome will be engaging the various providers of change support from across the Department (and in particular from the People & Culture and Communications teams) to ensure that the resulting “Change Roadmap”, reflects best practice and enables groups requiring change support to access relevant services in a coordinated and integrated way.
